Meet Brent Wiley
Exercise Physiologist • Health Coach • Founder of Glucose Balance Training
Exercise has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up active, became a competitive ski racer, coached athletes, and eventually built my career around exercise, health, and helping people become stronger and healthier.
I earned my degree in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University and began my professional career working in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. I loved helping people use exercise as a way to improve their health and quality of life.
Then, at age 30, everything changed when I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
Suddenly, exercise wasn’t simple anymore. The same activity that had always made me feel strong and capable could now send my glucose in directions I didn’t expect. I had to learn how food, insulin, intensity, timing, stress, hydration, and different types of exercise could all affect my blood sugar.
Over the years, I learned something important: people with diabetes are often told to exercise, but they are not always shown how to exercise with diabetes.
That is why I created Glucose Balance Training.
I wanted to build the kind of program I wish I had when I was first diagnosed — practical, personal, encouraging, and focused on helping people understand their own bodies.
My goal is to help you become more confident with exercise, recognize your individual glucose patterns, and build an approach to physical activity that actually fits your life.
You don’t have to do this perfectly. You just need a place to start.
